Taiki being honest with Hina was such a chad move. Like, straight-up told her he’s into Chii. At least now Hina won’t be waiting around for nothing. But bro, take that same energy and go tell Chii already. Also, Chii and her mom had such a good talk. That whole “having someone to rely on” advice might actually mess with Chii’s plans. Big moment there.

Hina’s cool and all, but come on, Taiki and Chii's chemistry is next level. And of course, we got the classic “stuck in the rain, no buses, guess we’re stranded” trope. Oh, and only one room left, and yup, it’s a couple’s room. Classic. Must be nice being 15 and living the dream. But like... sharing one room... xD

Fuck man you really can’t go wrong with either of these girls and every week I’m bouncing back and forth between the two lol. I was so team Hina last week and now I’m back on team Chinatsu. If I were in Taiki’s shoes I’m probably going Chinatsu, as much as it would hurt to pass up on Hina. I love basketball and we’d have that in common plus I’ve always liked older girls, so I get it. It’s never fun to break someone’s heart though.

Such a cute episode today. Little cliche to get the old fashioned “the trains stopped running so we have to stay at an inn” trope, but combined with the beach visit it was so well done I have no complaints. Chinatsu desperately needed something to take her mind off that loss and then having seen Taiki and Hina together.. so letting her just be a normal teenager and playing in the ocean was so sweet. LOVED the shot of her smiling at him on the stairs. She’s so freaking pretty.

New year of life means new opportunities and a time for new beginnings, both athletically and in her personal life. I wonder if chinatsu will start being more aggressive after having seen Hina confess. Speaking of which though, kind of weird to have no sort of follow up to that in this ep. You’d think chinatsu would have some internal monologue or be tempted to ask about her, but she seemed completely present in the moment. Not necessarily a bad thing, just felt a little odd.

Hey, would you look at those two, they already look like a married couple in those house yukatas staying over in an Inn.

But anyway, it was nice to see that the moment Chinatsu was told to relay on people more by her mother, the very first person that came to her mind was no other than Taiki, that was really nice.

And the advice given turned really well i would say :)

Don't use shitty pirate stream services then. They are always using google translate if there's no official subs available.
Good subs exist, they were available on torrents 2 hours after raw release.

Except you’re wrong, because Japan is 1 week ahead of us and official English subs on Japan’s Netflix aren’t provided anymore so there aren’t any official subs as of this week. Maybe you’re just unable to recognize poor fansubs and think they’re official.

That whole beach scene with Taiki and Chinatsu, I really can't stop smiling and it made me tear up a little maybe because of all those "setting some boundaries" and those "misunderstandings" that have been happening between them in the previous episodes, this episode alone cleared everything up. I'm so happy man..

And that head-tilting scene, I almost melted xD

After all the recent Hina focus, a Chinatsu-focused episode was direly needed.

What Taiki did to Hina sounds horrible. "I'm still focused on winning the main heroine but I'll still keep you around as a backup just in case." is what it sounds like. Tho I can't really fault him because he was put into this situation. Anything he would've done probably would've made him seem like a jerk. But I just hope he'll properly reject Hina soon. Hina should be aware of this.

Chinatsu's birthday episode was absolutely beautiful. It seems like they're putting more budget and effort into these types of episodes than the ones with the sports. I can completely get behind that. The beach scene was beautiful.

Taiki and Chinatsu staying together in an inn overnight feels like something straight out of a Mitsuru Adachi series, specifically H2. Albeit here it has a more positive and wholesome spin... Loved it. Would be funny if someone finds out. But I'd feel a little bad for Hina.

A much more Chinatsu-focused episode, makes sense given its her birthday in the episode. Some nice little moments in general with her and Taiki, especially at the beach which I liked. They gave her a bit more time to shine as a character after how driven the series has been with showcasing Hina off which even led to her confessing to Taiki too, so this was needed to give Chinatsu some more moments here, and her tracing Taiki's sleeping near the end there was fun.

Wasn't expecting Chinatsu to regain her lead this much this quickly after all the progress Hina made but man, the adorableness from what should've been a little trip to the beach snowballed like crazy out of nowhere. She really couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.

And as if that wasn't enough, Taiki and Chinatsu's reconciling with each other was so damn sweet. Happy Chinatsu is finally off the bench!

ED song was painful to hear and watch due to Hina's rejection.

Nice episode overall. When Chinatsu noted that her birthday meant it is one step closer to adulthood, I sighed. So nice to be young... with each passing birthday, I'm closer to being an old man, lol.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Great episode, but inconsistent animation even with big names involved (WIT Studio, Cloverworks, IG Production, Silverlink...)

Still a solid 9/10 and anime of the (last and current) season for me.

Where did you get that from? Taiki never showed he's either considering Hina as an option, she's the one who's not allowing him to reject her

Also another awful looking episode, this series really deserves better

While Hina might be my favourite girl of this series, Chinatsu getting the spotlight for this episode, especially at it was her birthday, was very deserved and fitting. =)

Seeing her and Taiki having fun playing at the beach after school was cute and relaxing. Taiki was also kind to present her a birthday cake and sung happy birthday to her, which was really sweet of him to do. The good ol' trope did strike when they couldn't return home due to a landslide effecting the train service, meaning that the pair had to share a room together at the inn across the road, but as with the beach visit earlier, their time together at the inn was wholesome and heartwarming.

Contrary to the odd vocal minority with over the top expectations and standards, I felt the production values for this episode to be pretty good. It's not the best that series has produced, but it's definitely an improvement over episode 13's efforts (Apart from the badminton matches), but that's just me, I guess.

As for Hina, it was predictable that Taiki would tell her that he's fully into Chinatsu. I still respect Hina for confessing to him in the previous episode, fully knowing what he answer to her would be, but I doubt she's going to give up on him that easily. The battle of love is always full of twists and turns, so anything can and probably will happen that will turn this situation upside down and back again.

@ninka22 I think you using the word "toxic" here feels very misplaced and incorrect, but if that's how you feel about it, then more power to you, even if I disagree. I don't see any need to rethink I what said earlier without making poorly judged remarks like yours. =/

@Meta_Yoshi If someone rejects you move on. If you keep forcing your feelings on them it is toxic. next time rejection will not be that nice. Something tells me Taiki agrees with me. ; )

Taiki has made his choice clear to Hina. Still, he and Chinatsu are keeping their cards to their chests, and revealing it one by one. It's going to be a slow grind for these two, and I can see how those in the know are just snickering in the background. Poor Hina...this is really turning out to be one of those anime where the childhood friend loses once again.
