There was a busker playing this the other day downtown, but was oddly singing the lyrics from “amazing grace” instead. Never thought such a jubilant song could sound so sinister and somber.
Haha. Been singing this song since I was 7 and when I was 9 I sang this at my talent show came first. When I was 11 I sang this at a retirement home, they loved it. And here I am now, today, this minute, this hour singing it in front of a live audience about to do a gig.
I said to myself when I was 6-7.
"I wanna do a little performance and come first in it. Next, I wanna sing where wise people will get thrown back to Thursday. And next, I wanna perform this in front of a live audience. Did I make it future me?"
And now to myself I say.

This is an old folk song that was actually intended to be sung by a woman- "many a poor girl" (not boy,) "new blue dress" (not jeans,) "tell your daughters" (not children.) The context is very, very clear with the original lyrics.

White Americans in those days wouldn't listen to black singers sing "that type of godless music" but when the white boys from England adapted it, Americans went wild. The Animals did this in 64 and I think it may have been the top hit of the entire 60's.

it's the exact tone for me. I can sing every last note like it should and don't have any problems. My voice is something like the singer. The lower notes I can reach 'em but they don't sound very natural but when he raises his voices I go after him and very easily without straining (:

yup should not have vocals i think this is a crappy video cause of it lol im trying to record karoke but this does not work with recording! you get copy right seance you can hear vocals if you try to record your self singing the song
